Why buy when you can rescue?

This is Rosie. She is part Labrador Retriever and German Shepherd. After several weeks of looking for the perfect family dog, we ran into Rosie at the Mission Viejo, CA Animal Shelter. From the first time she came up to us and my kids, we knew she was the perfect dog for us.

Prior to Rosie, we had Mookie, a beautiful and massive Siberian Husky who lived for almost 15 years. We purchased him at a local pet shop. After Mookie died, my kids really wanted a new dog so we went around to the local pet shops and visited some breaders. But the more I thought about it, as well as the sticker shock of pure breds these days, why not rescue a dog that needs a home. So after several weeks of looking, we found Rosie, a 7 month old Labrador/Shepherd mix, and a perfect addition to our family.
